Today, with 9 stores throughout Manitoba and Ontario, Dufresne Furniture is one of the largest furniture and appliance retailers in Western Canada. The Dufresne Story The year was 1983 when Doug Dufresne hung up his keys to a successful automotive business in Kenora. Not ready to consider retirement, Doug and wife Eva went looking for their next opportunity. They spotted it in the closing of the Eaton's store in Kenora. Recognizing the need for a quality furniture retailer to take its place, they set up shop in a 5,000 square foot store front. Today, the Dufresne family name is synonymous with a better experience in furniture shopping from Thunder Bay to Calgary. Over the years, all of the Dufresne family joined the promising business. Today, the roster looks like a family tree, as the family works together to manage day-to-day operations. Doug is the President, son Mark is the CEO, wife Eva is the Secretary Treasurer, son Mike is the Director of Stores and son Shaun is the Director of Purchasing. The family members all work towards developing good relationships with customers, staff and suppliers making them feel like part of the Dufresne family.
